WM0134 Tungsten Penetrator (W Alloy Penetrator)

Tungsten penetrators, which normally mean tungsten alloy (W-Ni-Fe & W-Ni-Cu) penetrators, must withstand the shock incurred while punching through armor plating. Penetrators designed for this purpose have a greatly strengthened case with an especially hardened and shaped nose. The main type is kinetic energy penetrator (KEP), also known as long-rod penetrator (LRP).

Applications of Tungsten Penetrator (W Alloy Penetrator)

Tungsten alloy armor-piercing cartridges are available as small arms ammunition, primarily for use as an anti-materiel round, for armored vehicles, concrete bunkers, tanks, and other defenses, depending on the caliber of the firearms.

  • Military Ammunition: Key in armor-piercing rounds for tanks, artillery, and anti-armor weapons.
  • Defense Systems: Used in kinetic energy projectiles for anti-tank missiles and artillery.
  • Aerospace: Integral to high-speed penetrators for aerial defense systems.
  • Law Enforcement: Specialized rounds for neutralizing armored threats in tactical missions.
  • R&D: Supports studies and innovations in penetration mechanics and advanced technologies.

Packaging of Tungsten Penetrator (W Alloy Penetrator)
